We wash and decontaminate the paint, clay bar to lift bonded contaminants a wash alone won't remove, then correct any swirls or scratches before the coating goes on — skipping any of these steps just seals in imperfections permanently under a hard, durable layer that's far more work to remove than paint. Once the surface is genuinely clean and flat, we wipe down with isopropyl alcohol to strip any residual oils before applying the coating itself, then allow full cure time before the car goes back out.

What the coating actually changes day to day: dirt, grime and salt film sit on top of the surface rather than bonding to it, so a rinse or gentle wash lifts it off far more easily than on bare or waxed paint — which matters a lot in a climate like Hobart's where rain, humidity and coastal salt are near-constant factors rather than a summer-only concern. It won't stop a stone chip or deep scratch, and it isn't a substitute for washing altogether, but it does mean less scrubbing and a noticeably longer-lasting shine between washes.
